IN A FIVE ALARM BARNBURNER, THE MAJESTIC ROYALS PREVAIL OVER THE GO GO LIZZIES AT CHRISTIE PITS

Under a layer of humid midsummer skies, the Royals prevailed 13-10 over the Lizzies in four explosive innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 3.
Here is a Royals account of the game:
- The Royals started strong with four runs in the top of the first to take an early 4-0 lead. The Royals attack was capped off with Jackson (8) hitting a MONSTER shot to right centre field that was a home run type hit but cashed in the Royals fourth run of the inning prior to Jackson getting to home plate.
- Royals starter Henry (4) surrendered three runs to the Lizzies in the bottom of the first to keep the game close at 4-3.
- In the top of the second, the Royals offensive machine continued in high octane as they to put up four additional runs to widen their lead to 8-3.
- Royals reliever Rory (2) allowed 2 runs aided by some aggressive base running of the opposing team, while striking out the side.
- Going for the jugular, the Royals scored another four runs in the top of the third to stretch their advantage to 12-5. Keying the Royals was Jackson, who had another massive hit to cash in some RBI’s.
- Royals reliever Jashan (9) allowed only one Lizzies run in the bottom of the third to keep them ahead 12-6.
- In the top of the fourth, the Royals scored an insurance run to stretch their advantage to 13-6.
- Reusing to surrender, the gritty Lizzies gamely rallied for four in the bottom of the fourth to trim the deficit to three. However, the Royals closer he finally settled and found the groove and got the final three outs to seal the deal on the 13-10 win.
