Rookie Ball Celebration Day on the Horizon for August 29

OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY, A FUNTASTIC CELEBRATION IS ON DECK FOR THIS SATURDAY TO WRAP UP THE 2015 TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS BASEBALL ROOKIE BALL SEASON AT CHRISTIE PITS

The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Committee wishes to remind Parents and Players that this Saturday (August 29) is Rookie Ball Celebration Day! This is the final day of our Rookie Ball season, and we’re hoping that everyone will be able to join us for the fun at Christie Pits!

All players and coaches will receive a free lunch consisting of a hot dog (meat or veggie) from the TP BBQ Zone, a bag of chips, and a juice box. Hot dogs and drinks will also be for sale to friends and family members. Players will also receive their trophy and photo (if they haven’t already received it) after their game.

Here is the Rookie Ball Celebration Day Schedule for Saturday, August 29 [ALL games are at Christie Pits Diamond 3]:

• Game 1: 9:30 a.m. > Cardinals at Astros [Christie Pits Diamond 3]

• Game 2: 10:45 a.m. > Orioles at Marlins  [Christie Pits Diamond 3]

• Game 3: 12:00 noon > Dodgers at Red Sox  [Christie Pits Diamond 3]

• Game 4: 1:15 p.m. > Twins at Cubs  [Christie Pits Diamond 3]

Parents and Players are advised that our photographer will be on hand from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to take photos of players who missed our TP Baseball Photo Day back in June. These photos will be ready for pick up in a couple of weeks. We will let everyone know by email, Twitter and the website when that pick up day will be in September.

We will also be handing out any remaining Photo Day pictures during our Celebration Day event and then at the September pick up day referred to above. Trophies will be available at our Celebration Day event and then at the pick up day still to be determined in September (Trophies are not available before Celebration Day).

The schedule for lunches is listed below. Some teams will eat following their games…some teams will be scheduled to receive their lunches before their game. Coaches, if your team is scheduled for lunch before your game, please arrange to have your players meet you at Christie Pits by your scheduled lunch time so that you can organize a team order.

Here is the lunch schedule for our 2015 Rookie Ball Celebration Day Event:

• 10:45 a.m. > Cardinals and Astros
• 11:15 a.m. > Dodgers* and Red Sox*
• 12:00 noon > Orioles and Marlins
• 12:30 p.m. > Twins* and Cubs*
  

*Please note that the teams playing the 12:00 noon and 1:15 p.m.games will get their team lunch before their game.

In addition to playing a game, each player and coach will receive a free lunch from the TP Baseball BBQ Zone…a hot dog (meat or veggie), bag of chips, and a juice box. Siblings and other fans will be able to purchase food and drinks. We will be providing coaches with a lunch order sheet on which they can write how many meat hot dogs and how many veggie hot dogs they’d like for the team order (the free lunches)…family and fans should not be included in this number. The plan is for one of our volunteers to collect these sheets during each game so that our BBQ volunteers can start to prepare the team lunches…at the end of each game the coaches (or helpful parents) will collect the team lunch from the BBQ staff and then the team can eat together….we don’t want all of the players assembling around the BBQ.
