Game Post composed with file from Vincent Lynch
Under a layer of overcast skies, the Royals prevailed 10-8 over the Rays in three exciting innings of Mosquito Division play this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here is a Royals account of the proceedings:
-
The Royals got off to a fast start in the top of the first with a series of walks and a final single by Mekai (11) to score four and take an early 4-0 lead.
-
However, the Rays answered the salvo in the bottom of the first by scoring four to tie the game 4-4.
-
The train kept rolling in the top of the second as the Royals plated another four to take an 8-4 advantage. After James (6) led off the inning with a single, the Royals garnered a couple of walks to load the bases. Jashen (9) and Henry (4) followed with respective singles to drive in four runs.
-
In the bottom of the second, the devilish Rays would reply once again with four to square the proceedings 8-8.
-
The Royals would punch back with a pair in the top of the third to take a 10-8 lead. After a lead off walk by Parker, Jackson (8) singled to put two ducks on the pond. Then Jade (1) walked to load the bases. With some extreme patience, Rory (2) and James (6) walked to bring in two runs to give the Royals the lead.
-
In the bottom of the third, the Royals sent in closer Jashan (8) to seal the deal. Jashan mowed the Rays down to lock down the 10-8 victory.
