Beneath a canvas of quaint and serene night skies, the Expos defeated the Mets 13-8 in 5 ½ innings of  Peewee Division semi-final action tonight at Christie Pits Diamond 2 to advance to the Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Championship Game against the Lizzies.

The proceeding was an entertaining and well played affair contested between two gifted and well schooled teams. In the end, the Expos stymied the Mets attack and made the most of the opportunities presented to them as they pulled away for the victory.

Here are the highlights:

After Louis (4), Alexia (3) and Cameron (15) drew walks to load the bases, Cooper (5) delivered a one out RBI single to bring Louis home. Harris (12) followed with a RBI single to plate Alexia. Subsequently, a Mets error would allow Cameron to come home. After Adam (1) drew a walk to reload the bases, Han (2) drew a RBI walk to bring home Cooper.
  • Mets starter Rory (4) would strike out one in the first and rob Olivia (6) of a hit with a nice catch of a hot tamale line drive at the mound.

  • The Expos D shone in the second when third baseman Haydn (11) dove to his right near the third baseline to make an aerial circus catch on a sizzling liner off the bat of Aiden (12) and record the first out of the inning.

  • The Mets would score one in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to two. After garnering a two out walk and swiping a pair of bases to reach third, Rory would blaze home on an Expos wild pitch.

  • Going for the jugular, the Expos would score four insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth to solidify their lead at 13-7. After Ella had garnered a lead off walk and stolen second, Haydn launched a RBI double to bring her home. With one out, Louis would stroke a RBI single to plate Haydn. Subsequently, with the bases juiced to the gills, Louis and Alexia would cartwheel home after a pair of Mets errors.
  • Mets reliever Hayden (2) would strike out one in the fifth.
  • Refusing to end their season, the Mets donned their rally caps in the top of the sixth as they put two runners on base in a feverish comeback bid. Michael would motor home from third on an Expos wild pitch.
