DOWN 8-3, THE M’s RALLY WITH SIX IN THE FINAL INNING TO UPEND THE BEANTOWNERS AT CHRISTIE PITS
Game Summaries edited with files from David Manning and Eric AbboudBeneath a ceiling of warm summer skies, the Mariners edged the Red Sox 9-8 in three innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here is a Mariners account of the proceedings:

Mariners starter Julia (8) pitched a no-hitter in the first to keep the game scoreless after one inning of play.

Mariners relievers William (10) and Joshua (13) made their Mosquito Division pitching debuts in the second frame.

Entering the fray in the top of the third, M’s reliever Grayson (11) teamed up with catcher Julia on a heads-up play to save a run by throwing out a Red Sox base runner trying to make it home on a ground ball back to the pitcher.

Down 8-3 in the bottom of the third, the Mariners put together an incredible comeback to win the game 9-8.

The Mariners had a great night at the plate – every single player got an RBI and scored a run!

Jordan (12) had the longest hit of the night with a 2 RBI double in the second and he scored a run in the third.

Rookie Ball Division call-up player Rosie (11) stole a base, scored a run, and had 2 RBIs – including the game-winner!

Grayson scored two runs, stole two bases and got an RBI.

James (1), Julia, and Joshua (13) each scored a run and got an RBI.

And James also stole second in the second.

William stole a base, scored two runs, and got a RBI.
Here is a Red Sox recap of the game:
- In the top of the first, the Red Sox loaded the bases but were unable to score.
- Aided by his catching battery-mate Lucas (11), and a pop-up catch by Liam (12), Red Sox starter Vincent (4) pitched a tidy three up and three down bottom of the first.
- In the next two innings, the Red Sox were able to score eight runs to take an 8-3 lead.
- However, in the bottom of the final frame, the Mariners were able to come back and win the game when the winning run was walked home.
