TAKING NO PRISONERS, THE LIZZIES DIM THE STARS TO TAKE THE ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT GAME VICTORY AT DOMINICO FIELD
Under the cool gaze of a harvest moon, the Lizzies defeated the Stars 14-2 in 4 ½ innings of Bantam Division Round Robin Tournament Game action tonight at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.
Here’s brief recap of the proceedings:
- With 1-2-3 flair, the Lizzies starter mowed down the Stars with three K’s in the top of the first.
- In the bottom of the first, the Lizzies staked themselves to an early 4-0 lead. Ben (7), Jacob (15), Cormac (9) and Solomon (1) came home to roost.
- The Stars answered back with a run in the top of the second to trim the deficit to three. Daniel (13) came home to crow.
- With the pedal to the metal, the Lizzies tallied four more in the bottom of the second to extend their lead to 8-1. Avi (10), Liam (13), Julian (3) and Elliot (6) came home to do the shimmy, shimmy, shake.
- Taking the bull by the horns, the Lizzies scored two in the bottom of the third to stretch their advantage to 10-1. Michael (4) and Sebastian (14) came home to do the watusi.
- The Lizzies added four insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth to widen their lead to 14-1. Charlie (8), Avi, Nicholas (5) and Liam came home to do the funky chicken.
- In the top of the fifth, the Stars rallied with a run to trim the gap to twelve. Mark (9) came home to do the jitterbug.
