DESPITE FALLING SHORT OF THEIR ULTIMATE GOAL, TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS HAD A FUN AND REWARDING WEEKEND AS THE TOURNAMENT FINALIST AT CONCORD REGIONAL PARK

Beneath of warm blanket of sweet and tranquil summer skies, East York defeated the Toronto Playgrounds 18U Selects 10-0 this afternoon at Concord Regional Diamond 1 to win the 2022 Vaughan Vikings 18U Select Tournament Championship Game.
Despite falling short of their ultimate goal, the TP 18U Selects nevertheless had a fun and rewarding experience this weekend as the tournament finalist.
Toronto Playgrounds journey at the Vaughan tourney began with a 7-4 round robin game loss to East York on Friday night at Concord Regional Park.
After a good night’s rest. the TP 18U Selects rebounded with a take no prisoners 11-0 win over the Milton Mets on Saturday morning to earn their first round robin victory at the tourney.
With the summer wind in their sails, Toronto Playgrounds put the pedal to the metal on Saturday afternoon when they defeated the Vaughan Vikings 19-0 to garner their second round robin game win. With a 2-1 record, TP advanced into the tourney’s playoff elimination round.
Early this morning, TP 18U Select triumphed 17-4 over the Bloordale Bombers in a quarter-final elimination game at Concord Regional Diamond 1.
Firing on all pistons in a midday Sunday affair, Toronto Playgrounds steamrolled over Brampton 31-1 in the Vaughan Tournament Semi-Final Elimination Game to advance to a championship round showdown versus East York.
Finishing the tournament with a not too shabby 4-2 overall record, the TP 18U Selects had a snap, crackle, pop weekend at the tourney and can take a measure of solace in knowing that both of their losses came at the hands of East York, the Vaughan tournament champion.

The TPBA also wishes to commend all the 18U Select coaches, players, parents and family members for representing the core values of Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond at the Vaughab tourney and during the course of the 2022 season.
