Beneath a checkered blanket of sunny and cloudy skies, the Toronto Playgrounds 14U ‘AA’ Rep prevailed 16-12 over the East York 14U ‘AA’ Bulldogs in a 2023 Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) 14U ‘AA’ Tournament Championship Game this afternoon at Stan Wadlow Park.

With their championship victory over the Bulldogs, TP 14U ‘AA’ Rep were duly rewarded with an invitation by the TBA to be their representative at the 2023 Baseball Ontario (OBA) 14U ‘AA’ Provincial Championship Tournament.

TP 14U ‘AA’ Rep ran the table at the TBA tournament as they went undefeated with a pristine 4-0 record at the “double-loss-knockout” playoff tournament.

Toronto Playgrounds journey at the TBA tourney began on Friday night with a solid 8-4 win over the Royal York 14U ‘AA’ Cardinals to earn their first TBA playoff game victory.

In a nail biter, where runs came at a premium, TP 14U ‘AA’ Rep edged Scarborough 5-4 on Saturday morning to capture their second TBA playoff game win.

Putting the pedal to the metal, TP 14U ‘AA’ steamrolled over East York 14U ‘AA’ 10-0 on Saturday afternoon to earn their third TBA playoff game victory. With a stellar 3-0 record, TP 14U ‘AA’ Rep punched their ticket into the TBA 14U ‘AA’ tournament championship round, with a rematch against the Bulldogs for all the marbles.

On behalf of our entire baseball community, the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) wishes to extend their congratulations to Head Coach Joel Shaffer; his assistant coaches, and the players of the TP 14U ‘AA’ Rep Team for their hard work and dedication in achieving championship glory at the 2023 TBA 14U ‘AA’ Rep Tournament.

The TPBA also wishes to commend all the 14U ‘AA’ Rep coaches, players, parents and family members for representing the core values of Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association program with honour, dignity and professionalism both on and off the diamond at the TBA tourney and during the course of the 2023 season.
